Andro & Eve got busy in lockdown with Centre Zine
This must-see publication is full of poems, stories and creative work by LGBTQ+ artists. Not only is it curated and designed by artist Okocha Obasi but 50% of the profits will be donated to Yorkshire’s Racial Justice Network. Beautiful work, that gives back to a hugely important cause. Founded in 2016 as an informal event series, Andro & Eve was initially created to provide inclusive and accessible spaces for the LGBTQ+ community.
Their mission being to create a welcoming environment that gives a platform to those voices once marginalised, whilst celebrating the queer culture. They put an emphasis on feeling good, sharing experiences and bringing people together – which is exactly what this world needs.
Pre-lockdown, Andro & Eve helped to achieve this mission by throwing live events such as Drag King Cabaret, they even held workshops to help participants create their very own Drag King characters! Also on offer were Event Production workshops for young people, aimed at educating whilst building confidence.
As Covid has sadly prevented people getting together for these, they’ve adapted by offering online events, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming ones here.
In the mean time, this Zine has been created in hopes it can maintain that connection, visibility and a voice for the LGBTQ+ community.
They also have an amazing online store, fully stocked with new merchandise! Including tote bags, badges and t-shirts. Why not brighten a friends letterbox and keep in touch the old fashioned way, with one of their eye-catching post cards?
